Joyce Siler is the Director of Women’s Business Center (WBC) of North Carolina. The WBC is a partnership program between The North Carolina Institute of Minority Economic Development, Inc. (NCIMED) and the U. S. Small Business Administration (SBA). Joyce oversees the development of education and training programs that address the needs of women entrepreneurs.

She is also the owner of Joyce's Specialties, a firm that specializes in promotional products, business gifts, premium and fundraising items. Joyce has over 20 years experience in sales and marketing and has cultivated a client base that extends throughout the United States.

Joyce holds an undergraduate degree in Marketing from North Carolina Central University. Prior to becoming an entrepreneur, she worked as a marketing and training consultant for an educational and commercial software company.

Alyssa Mako is the Assistant Director of the Women’s Business Center of North Carolina.  Alyssa serves as the business counselor and advises clients on their pre-business planning and start-up needs.  Alyssa also plays a vital role in the development and implementation of the center’s ongoing training activities and special events.

Alyssa received her Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Wittenberg University in Springfield, Ohio.  Her previous work experience includes 12 years of Credit and Risk Analysis with MBNA America Bank.

Melissa Rivera-Terrell is the Program Associate for the Women’s Business Center (WBC) of North Carolina. Melissa provides administrative and clerical support to the WBC work group. She assists in the planning of various trainings, workshops, and conferences. Melissa also conducts all initial intake assessments for client seeking WBC assistance and set up one-on-one consultations appointments with clients seeking information on entrepreneurship.

Melissa has 12 years of experience in customer service and administrative support, which has equipped her to build a rapport with the community as well as with clients. She has helped maintain a functional and efficient office environment and has taken on various leadership roles in special projects and events. Her previous work experience includes educating clients on various plan details and financial choices in their 401K retirement account while analyzing customer financial data.
